2nd Highland Brigade - South Carolina State Guard

The 2nd "Highland" Brigade is one of three brigades of the South Carolina State Guard. The SC State Guard, along with the National Guard, Air National Guard, and Emergency Management Division, make up the 4 branches of the South Carolina Military Department under the direction of the Adjutant General. Its Commander-in-Chief
is the governor of the State of South Carolina.

The 2nd Brigade's base area of operations consist of the following counties in Upstate South Carolina: Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg and Union.

MISSION

Our overall mission is to support all military operations as required by the Adjutant General of South Carolina. It is also charged with delivering a fully capable level of preparedness and response to protect the lives and property of the people of South Carolina during times of a terrorist attack, or a natural or man-made disaster. It also serves as a force multiplier for the SC Army and Air National Guard.
